In 2011 Past Performance is King in the Federal Contracting Market. You will have the best chance of winning business if you can prove that you have performed well in the past. To that end, it is critical that your PPIRS (Past Performance Information Retrieval System) record is updated and accurate. PPRIS is the internal federal scorecard (required by FAR) rating your company’s performance which is then used by decision-makers when making best-value contract awards.
While we think all of our clients love us, they may in reality, rate you less than perfect. Or, they may not have taken the time to rate you at all. Today, go to www.ppirs.gov and check to see what is being said by past customers about your company.
If you see no ratings, now is the time to contact your customers, perform a customer satisfaction visit or call and once you know for a fact that they consider you a “ten” ask them to go to PPIRS and give you an excellent rating. If you see a rating that is less than stellar, contact the customer and make the improvements required. If the rating is poor and you cannot make improvements, you have the opportunity to append the record with a statement.
