I found interesting that the IRS estimated a decrease of 1.6 million hours annually of paperwork and recordkeeping for small businesses, which is quite nice. Indeed taxpayers may elect from tax year to tax year whether to use the safe harbor method or actual expense method, but once made, an election for the tax year is irrevocable. The IRS also set various limits on the safe harbor, which can be read in this article: http://www.prestinaegele.com/irs-introduces-simplified-method-for-claiming-home-office-deduction
Even if the simplified method is not effective for 2012 tax year returns being filed during the current 2013 filing season, taxpayers can consider this new home office deduction when tax planning in 2013, right?

Things are less predictable and more competitive than ever in the GovCon space. However, it may be that opportunities increase for nimble small businesses presenting cost-effect, creative solutions. From both sides of the aisle there is consistent support for the small business community that will likely continue. However, winning companies of all sizes will need to run efficient, accurate and error-free shops. More than ever, they will need true GovCon expertise from their professional service providers.

Sounds like a good presentation, wish I could make it. Diving into the FAR and seeing the T&C's play out practically in GSA Contract preparations and task orders is definitely interesting. I am often surprised by how little some GSA Contractors know about what they've signed.

So far so good in my opinion. Having been exposed to GSA Contract extension process across multiple schedules, I have seen the variety, and it has been vast. Now, I know what I am going to get from schedule to schedule, and it is much improved. I shared your article on my twitter, I know it will help some.
